Well we are up to 21 lambs, as of 2 days ago! I walk out into the nursery pasture and I see lamb races, king of the hill games, lambs standing on top of their mamas. It’s an over load of cuteness. I just love Spring and lambing season!

So far the ewes have given us 4 sets of twins, 4 sets of triplets and one single birth. Everyone is healthy and frisky. The Utopia Lamb Fan Club is in action again. People pull their cars off along side the road by the nursery pasture, to  watch the lambs play. Maybe I should to talk to the county about putting in one of the scenic view pull offs so people have somewhere to park!

Nate, Coronation Sussex cockerel was happy to join our little group of Sussex hens. A mix of Coronation and split Light Sussex hatching eggs available soon!

Wayne, White Marans cockerel is still out strutting in the general population, but will soon be penned up with his Marans hens. Maybe I'll put a few Ameraucana girls in with him, too. They can make some Olive Egger chicks. Let me know if you want hatching eggs!

There have multiple been inquiries about lamb prices, so I thought that I would list this years pricing.

Cotswold lambs: $250.00 for White or Natural color

Finnsheep lambs: $300.00 for Black, White or Black and White Piebald. $400.00 for Silver, Fawn, Brown or Brown & White Piebald

Shetland lambs: $300.00-$400.00 expecting a wide variety of colors and markings

Finn/Cotswold cross ram lamb. $200.00. He is eligible for registration as 1/2 Finn and would make a great flock sire.  With this ram you will get the size of the Cotswold with the soft fleece and productivity of the Finn.

We will also have  3/4  percentage Finnsheep lambs that are eligible for registration. $200.00.

The above pricing includes registration.  There is a 10% discount for multiple purchases of 3 or more lambs.

We will also have a  few unregistered Shetland lambs and market lambs available.

We have a total of 14 Cotswolds and Finnsheep lambs, so far. 4 sets of twins and 2 sets of triplets. The early group of ewes are 1/2 done, there’s only 1 Cotswold ewe, 1 Shetland/Finn cross ewe and 5 Finnsheep ewes left to lamb. Then we will have a little break until the end of April and we will start all over again with the 13 ewes of the Shetland flock.

Lambs, lambs, lambs everywhere. Spring really is the best time of year!!!!

I will be evaluating them and pick the few that will remain in Utopia with us. I will post the For Sale list, with pictures and pricing as decisions are made.

Here are some cute lamb photos. Enjoy!

Happy Spring!

A beautiful set of white Cotswold ram twins were born to white ewe Nistock Jessica. Sire is Tassel Hill Daniel, a natural color ram.  Here’s some pictures of the cute little guys!

Jessica decided to lamb one day early, during a snow storm. Brand new babies with mama.

Up and dry and wearing their styling lammie jammies. It was cold that day!

Big nine day old boys, out in the snow with their mama.

Sleepy babies in a sunbeam.

Are you looking for your next flock sire? Just look at the solid build on these little 12 day old ramlings!

It seems like Fall just flew by! Tomorrow is the fist day of Winter and we are lucky that so far it’s been relatively warm, with very little snow. I hope that it doesn’t stay Wintery and blizzardy into April, to make up for  this extended Fall-like weather! But we get, what we get…

I went out and took pictures of the Shetland breeding groups today. As always some individuals were not cooperative, so there are a few re-cycled shots here and there. Sheep, just like kids, never do quite what you want them to do.

There are only 3 Shetland breeding groups. At the last minute, I decided to use just the adult rams: Kestrel, Buster and Mitch.

Ram: Windswept Kestrel  White, Flecket, Socket, Yuglet [S32446]

If you’re interested in a lamb from any of these groups, let me know! I’ll start a reserve list.

As soon as my camera batteries re-charge and I get another nice day, I’ll go out and get pictures of our  Finn groups the Cotswolds.

I have many handsome ram lambs for sale. It was a ram year here in Utopia! We sold some but we still have one black Finnsheep, one white Cotswold and 3 white Finn cross rams available, as well as 6 Shetlands. Please scroll down to the earlier post to see individual pictures and descriptions of the Shetland ram lambs.

25287 Utopia 1103 Ramses is a big boned black twin born on 2/24/2011. Sired by black ram, 24560 Scholefield 1083 Rambeau. Dam is silver badger faced ewe Sophie, 24095 Cook NY41-0073. Ramses has a lovely soft crimpy fleece and has the sweet personality that Finnsheep are known for. He is priced at $200.00. Ramses will make an excellent herd sire and is just a very nice personable guy!

Ramses

5 month old Ramses on the right grazing next to 14 month old Finnsheep ram Petey on the left. Photo included to give you an idea of the size and substance of this very nice ram lamb.

Utopia Prince is our only Cotswold lamb left for sale. He is a twin born on 3/10/11, sired by our natural color ram, Tassel Hill Daniel and his dam is one of our white ewes, Nistock Jessica. Both parents run around 180-200 pounds and have the beautiful long lustrous fleeces that you expect from a Cotswold. We expect that Prince will take after them in size and fleece quality. Prince could be sold with an unrelated white adult ewe, drop me a line and inquire!

Prince is just starting to get the Cotswold ringlets in his fleece. He's pretty cute and a steal at only $125.00 unregistered or $150.00 with registration papers.

The following  are crossbred ram lambs born the 1st week of March sired by our black Finn rams and their dams are white cross bred ewes. You can use these guys to add the wonderful Finnsheep propensity for lambing in litters to your flock!

Up Date: The Finn crossbreed ram lambs have all been sold :^)

We have twin rams sired by Rambeau, their dam is a big Dorset/Romney/Tunis cross ewe. These twins have a Dorset build and fleece type and they can be registered as 1/2 Finnsheep. Only asking $100.00 each for these boys. They will be sold by the pound late Summer.

Another twin ram lamb, he can also be registered as 1/2 Finnsheep. This one is sired by StillMeadow Petey. This lamb's dam is one our favorite ewes, Lexi. She is a mystery cross ewe with a wonderful thick crimpy fleece. The lamb looks like he will have his mama's wonderful fleece qualities. He will be a smaller size ram. Lexi is between a Shetland and a Finn in size. Priced at $75.00, but he will be sold by the pound late Summer.

Just a group photo of some of the boys. They are a nice group, as you can see they come when they’re called!
